Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 3:30PM

Job Description:

The SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Machine Operator is a challenging and rewarding position at Nitek and is responsible for ensuring the company’s SMT, screen printer, reflow oven, and selective soldering machines are running correctly and efficiently. Nitek fully updated its production equipment in 2021 and 2022 and needs an operator comfortable working independently and with minimal direction to build prototypes, legacy assemblies, and full production builds.  The ideal candidate should be flexible, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to complete daily responsibilities with limited supervision. This job can be temporary and evolve into a full time position.

Ideally, this person can hit the ground running, will make an immediate impact, and is interested in an extended, multi-year role where they can make a significant contribution to the growth and success of Nitek.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set-up and operate automated SMT assembly equipment including Screen Printer, Glue Dispensing Machine, Pick and Place Machine, and Reflow Oven
  • Set up and organize SMT stencils, load pick and place machine, and initiate proper job profiles
  • Pick components, prepare reel and trays for production, and replenish parts as needed
  • Properly clean boards and perform basic soldering and rework of SMT components
  • Visually inspect product out of the reflow oven and rework as needed
  • Monitor equipment efficiency and perform required preventive maintenance
  • Work closely with Engineering to identify and implement production improvements
  • Work closely with Engineering to help write and maintain production, assembly, and test procedures
  • Work closely with Engineering to identify and address production, assembly, and test issues
  • Maintain a clean and ESD safe environment

Key Requirements:

  • GED or High school diploma
  • Minimum 3 years experience in electronics manufacturing environment, SMT assembly, and soldering
  • Familiarity with Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) electronic components and SMT assembly process
  • Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet goals on schedule
  • Critical thinker with excellent analytical skills and strong problem-solving ability who can manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrives in a fast moving, hands-on environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
  • High energy level, positive, and enthusiastic
  • Ability to lift 40lbs. to 50lbs.
  • Basic computer proficiency
