The construction of several new administrative and personnel dormitories at a government installation led to the need for a new CCTV system. The new system was required to fully integrate with their existing network. Additionally, several new entry control points were established. These would also require video camera coverage. NITEK worked with a security consultant to design the best solution for their current needs and one that could be easily expanded and if needed service with minimal efforts or system wide disruption.
The NITEK UTP Links System formed the basis of this project based on the fact that the camera system would be a combination of both analog and IP. The majority of which would be the latter. The NITEK platform provided for a seamless marrying of both technologies since the CX452 modular card cage could accommodate both analog camera, with the CHM22, and IP cameras, with the POE48. The PS115 power supply provided the required voltage for both types of cameras. Each building utilized IDF closets that were interconnected with the MDF via fiber. The entry control points utilized analog cameras with distances of 12,000ft or more. Since telephone wire was already present at several of the guard booths the EX1120 was chosen. Its ability to transmit at distances up to 12,000ft provided the best solution. The other sites would use existing fiber. Additionally, all exterior cameras were required to be surge protected. NITEK’s CAMIP1 and IPTR12 fulfilled these needs on the IP side. CAMUTP24 units provided adequate analog sure protection of the video, power, and PTZ control inputs.
NITEK was chosen as the best solution due to the modular design of the UTP Links System, individual channel self resetting fuses, “hot swappable” capabilities, simultaneous support of IP and analog cameras, and the sufficient power to support both divergent technologies. NITEK’s unique abilities to transmit at extreme distances over existing copper further set us apart from the others. NITEK has led the way in the design build of robust and multifaceted products to facilitate reliable CCTV transmission for over 25years. We strive to continue providing the best solution available on the market for any type of system application regardless of its size or scope. |
